Maths
We teach Maths at Pensford not just because it's the 'done thing' but because we firmly believe that it is important for our children to be able to solve increasingly complex types of problems as they grow up. Often these involve numbers and shapes but our approach to problem solving is wider than that, supporting the children to develop rational thinking in a wide range of contexts.
You can see our curriculum for maths here and our calculation policies below** (we follow the White Rose scheme of work). You can get an idea of the types of philosophical thinking we teach at Key Stage 2 here. (Note that the philosophy curriculum is woven into the wider curriculum as time and opportunity allows.)
At Pensford we work hard to make learning interactive and inspiring, making the most of all the spaces available including the outdoor spaces.
