School Uniform

Our policy

Our overall "uniform policy" is simple at Pensford: we want children to feel included and part of our community by wearing our school uniform of purple, white and grey.  However, we do not want to burden parents with unnecessarily expensive branded clothing.

We do encourage children to take pride in their appearance and dress practically for school. Governors and parents decided that having a school uniform is very useful and, more importantly, creates a sense of identity and of belonging to the same community.

What children wear to school

Please note that BRANDED items (ie those that bear the School Logo) are NOT compulsory.  Therefore, parents can choose to buy plain, non-branded items that match the description from any retailer.

We also have a stock of branded sweatshirts that parents have donated, which are available for 50p-£1 an item through the PTA.  Sales occur regularly, usually on Fridays after school.  Please ask the school office or look at our newsletter to find the next sale, or if you need an item sooner.

Type of clothing In each section, it is COMPULSORY to wear ONE of the given options Comments

  • Purple hoodies (with or without the school logo)

Please note that the hoodies should only be worn on PE days.

We do not have a 'summer' or 'winter' uniform: parents can choose clothing from the list that is suitable to the weather.

Bottom half

  • Grey pinafore dresses
  • Grey or black trousers
Footwear
  • Black school shoes with a closed toe and no heels (Proper school shoes please, no canvas pumps.)
  • School shoes are often sold as 'trainer-style' shoes and these are acceptable for both PE and non-PE days, so long as they are very predominantly black.

  • Plain black or grey gym shorts OR
  • Plain black  jogging bottoms
  • Black trainers or daps
Please note that children (usually in Key Stage 2) taking part in team events may need football boots and shin pads.  Parents will be notified of this in good time.
Coats Pupils may wear their own coat to school or choose to wear a purple waterproof fleece (a warm purple jacket with the school logo is available from School Trends)

PLEASE NOTE: All clothing should be labelled with your child's name

For safety reasons we ask that the children do not wear jewellery in school.

How to Order

As stated above, parents do NOT need to supply branded uniform for their children, so they are free to obtain plain items from any suitable retailer.

For branded items, if they choose to buy them, parents and carers can order the Pensford School uniform either through Curtis Sports & Leisure Ltd, Tesco Uniform Service or from School Trends. Parents should contact either provider directly and choose their children's uniform items from their websites https://www.curtis-sports.com/products/school-shops/pensford-primary  (0117 9723242),  www.tesco.com/UES (not PE hoodies) or  www.schooltrends.co.uk.  Both Curtis Sports & Leisure Ltd and Tesco Uniform will pay 10% commission to the school for all purchases made.

When you contact any of these suppliers, they take payment from you for your order and then deliver the items to the school for you to collect (free postage). We will text you to let you know the clothes have arrived.  For Tesco orders, these can be delivered with shopping or collected in store and Tesco make a donation to the school for each item bought.  Curtis Sports will deliver to the school and we will contact you when the items have arrived.
