Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Our Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL) is Mr Warrick Barton (Headteacher). Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leader (DDSL) is Mr Sam Miller (Senior Teacher). Our Safeguarding Governor is Dr Julie Parker.
Our comprehensive safeguarding policy, updated in September 2021, can be found here.
At the centre of what we do for safeguarding, we "see, hear, believe and act". This involves taking a "professional curiosity" about families' situations, in the interest of safeguarding children.
Please note that a review of the policy is underway to take into account the updated guidance published in July 2021 version of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021, which came into force on 1.9.21 . The school fully supports and will implement the updated guidance in full. We would like to particularly mention the changes to paragraphs 13 and 18. Paragraph 13 makes clear that child protection policies should also include procedures for dealing with peer on peer abuse. Paragraph 18 is a new paragraph, making clear that victims should be taken seriously, kept safe and never be made to feel like they are creating a problem for reporting abuse, sexual violence or sexual harassment
