Welcome to Pensford Primary School

You can find the Admissions Arrangements for all schools within The Partnership Trust for 2023-2024, including Pensford Primary School, here.

The Admissions Arrangements for 2024-25 are here.

We are here to help you, even before your child starts at Pensford Primary School.  Whether your child might be joining Duckling Class in September or is moving mid-way through the school year, please do contact us if you have any queries or can't find the information you need.

As an academy, we take in-year applications directly, while Reception places are handled by the Bath and NE Somerset Local Authority.  For the Reception intake in 2022, the deadline for applications has passed.  If you still need a place for your child within the 2023-24 academic year, you can contact us for advice on an in-year application and a school tour.

The two distinct processes, of joining in Reception and of joining later on, are outlined below.

Reception Intake September 2024

If your child was born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020 he or she is able to start school in September 2024.  The applications deadline will be in January 2024 so many parents look around schools during the autumn to find the one that is right for their child.  You can book a tour at Pensford by calling 01761 490470 or by clicking here.  The Trust-wide Admissions Arrangements for 2024-25 are also available online by clicking the link.

Our shared school value of 'Happiness' is our first priority for all the children and we have been fully subscribed in recent years, and this includes taking children from a wider area than the village itself.  If you live in the Chew Valley, Whitchurch or Keynsham area please do pay us a visit.  You can contact us to arrange a time that suits you.

Applications to start school in Reception must be made to the Local Authority in which you live even if you are wanting to be considered for a place at a school situated within a different Local Authority area.  You can click here to reach the Bath and North East Somerset Schools Admissions online page.

We also have a School Handbook, which contains lots information on the practicalities of starting school in Reception at Pensford Primary School.  We also recommend looking at the 'Parents' and 'Children' tabs on our website for more information.

Transitioning to Pensford from another school (in-year admissions)

If your child has already started school, but you would like them to transfer to Pensford Primary School, you need to apply directly to the school. Details of our Trust's in-year admissions procedures can be found here.  These include specific information about Pensford.

Please feel free to contact us on 01761 490470 to check if there is space in the year group for your child(ren).  In line with the policy of The Partnership Trust, we use our Application Form.  You can download an editable version of the application form from the Trust website here:

For any more information, just call the school office on 01761 490470 or email us on to arrange a visit.
