We are here to help you, even before your child starts at Pensford Primary School. Whether your child might be joining Duckling Class (Reception) in September, or is moving mid-way through the school year, please do contact us if you have any queries or can't find the information you need.
As an academy, we take in-year applications directly, while Reception places are handled by the Bath and NE Somerset Local Authority.
The two distinct processes, of joining in Reception and of joining later on, are outlined below.
Starting in Reception
If your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 they are able to start school in September 2025. The standard applications deadline was 23:59 on 15th January 2025.
You can book a tour at Pensford by calling 01761 490470 or filling in this form. The Trust-wide Admissions Arrangements for 2025-26 are also available.
Applications to start school in Reception must be made to the local authority in which you live, even if you want to be considered for a place at a school within a different local authority area.
We also have a School Handbook, which contains lots information on the practicalities of starting school in Reception at Pensford Primary School. We also recommend looking at the 'Parents' and 'Children' tabs on our website for more information.
Transitioning to Pensford from another school (in-year admissions)
If your child has already started school, but you would like them to transfer to Pensford Primary School, you need to apply directly to the school. See The Partnership Trust's in-year admissions procedures for more details. You can download an editable version of our in-year admissions application form from the Trust's website.
Please feel free to contact us on 01761 490470 or email pensford_office@pensfordschool.org to check if there is space in the year group for your child(ren) and arrange a visit.
