Welcome to Pensford Primary School

NOTE - The Trust-wide consultation on admissions arrangements for 2022-23 has now been completed.  You can find the final admissions arrangements for all Partnership Schools, including Pensford, here.

We are here to help you, even before your child starts at Pensford.  Whether your child might be joining Duckling Class in September 2021 or are moving mid way through the school year, please do contact us if you have any queries or can't find the information you need here.

As an academy, we take in-year applications directly, while Reception places are handled by the Bath and NE Somerset local authority.  For the Reception intake in 2021, we still follow the BANES admissions criteria, and you can find these on pages 46-7 of the Primary Admissions Booklet, downloadable here.  The two distinct processes, of joining in Reception and of joining later on, are outlined below.

Reception Intake September 2021

If your child was born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 he or she is able to start school in September 2021.  The applications deadline has passed, but if you missed it you should still contact the local authority (BANES) - see below.

Our shared school value of 'Happiness' is our first priority for all the children and we have been fully subscribed in recent years, and this includes taking children from a wider area than the village itself.  If you live in the Chew Valley, Whitchurch or Keynsham area please do pay us a visit.  You can contact us to arrange a time that suits you.

Applications to start school in Reception must be made to the Local Authority in which you live even if you are wanting to be considered for a place at a school situated within a different Local Authority area.  You can click here to reach the Bath and North East Somerset Schools Admissions online page.

We also have a School Handbook, which contains lots information on the practicalities of starting school in Reception at Pensford.  We also recommend looking at the 'Parents' and 'Children' tabs above for more information.

Transitioning to Pensford from another school (in-year admissions)

If your child has already started school, but you would like them to transfer to Pensford, you need to apply directly to the school. Details of our in-year admissions procedures can be found here.

Please feel free to contact us on 01761 490470 to check if there is space in the year group for your child(ren).  In line with the policy of the Bath and Mendip Partnership Trust, we use our Pensford Application Form, which is based closely on the Bath and NE Somerset Application form.  You can download an editable Word document of the Pensford form or a PDF by clicking the links.

For any more information, just call the school office on 01761 490470 or email us on to arrange a visit.
