Originally from Sheffield, Emily moved to Bristol to study Music and French at the University of Bristol, from which she graduated in 2011 with honours. Emily subsequently studied law at the University of Law and qualified as a Banking and Finance solicitor in 2016. Emily is an associate in the Banking and Finance team at TLT LLP and specialises in the financing of Clean Energy projects across the UK.
As well as being Chair, Emily is one of two governors for vulnerable pupils (focusing on Pupil Premium) |

HEADTEACHER Damian Knollys

Headteacher Damian has been the Headteacher at Pensford since September 2026. He has worked in Education for over 25 years. This has included senior leadership roles in other schools at Deputy Head and Headteacher level and as School improvement Leader for The Trust. |

Community Governor Ian joined the school governing body as a governor in 2023 as a way of supporting the school, the excellent team of staff, and Pensford's local community, all of which are very important to his family. Ian currently has two children in the school and has lived in the Chew Valley since 2021. Ian is an in-house lawyer working in the Telecoms sector.

Ruth Knox

Community Governor Ruth moved from London to Pensford in 2022 and is currently a full-time mum. Ruth holds a BA in Art History and Anthropology (SOAS, London), and an MA in East Asian Art (Sothebys Institute, London). After managing international art galleries in London for several years, from 2018-2021 Ruth co-owned and managed "Cakes and Ladders", a board game cafe on a double decker bus in North London. With a focus on social enterprise and community engagement, Ruth ran regular board game wellbeing sessions for adults and children alongside the business.

Helen Stockwell

Community Governor Helen works for Action for Children as a Service Co-Ordinator for Children's Centre Services in Bath. This role focuses on Early Years and family support. Her background and training is in counselling and mental health support. Helen has lived and brought up a family in Pensford for over 20yrs.
Helen is the Safeguarding Governor. |

Claire holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bristol and a Master’s degree in Human Resources from the University of Bath. She has since worked in Financial Services focusing on employee engagement, HR strategy, internal communications, accessibility and inclusion. Through this work, she has developed a strong interest in creating inclusive environments where individuals are supported to thrive. Claire moved to Pensford in 2020 and joined the local governing committee as a way of supporting the local community and giving back, which is very important to her.
Claire is one of two governors for Vulnerable Pupils, and focuses on those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities |

Liz Gleed

Parent Governor Liz has lived in Pensford since 2017 with her husband Nick, and their daughter attends Pensford Primary School. Liz holds a BMus in Music from Cardiff University and a PGCE in Secondary Music from Bath Spa University. She has worked in secondary music education since graduating, and has been Head of Music in four very different secondary schools. She is currently Head of Music at Bristol Cathedral Choir School, a music specialism academy in central Bristol, and also leads the secondary music teacher training with Five Counties SCITT.
