We are very  fortunate to have a wide range of experiences and skills represented across our Local Governing Body (LGB).

Chair of Governors Nigel Chambers



Office ends 


Co-opted governor

As a civil servant working for the Health and Safety Executive for 34 years and before that working in Higher Education, Nigel has extensive experience of company management systems and of analysing and improving company technical performance. He has led and developed teams of engineers, scientists and enforcement specialists in a wide range of projects and programmes which have linked with and impacted on local and national business programmes.

He has sat on industry advisory committees as both advisor and secretary and has experience of strategic decision making at a national level with, for example, the NHS.

He has wide experience of chairing committees. 

More recently, he completed a 3 year stint working with reception age children as a volunteer “Bookbug” - a BaNES project aimed at bringing male influence to bear on early years reading for boys. 

He completed the Chairs’ National Development Programme in 2018 and has been a governor at Pensford Primary School since 2016.

Jason Rehbein



Jason has been in financial services for 30 years, the first 10 in banking and latterly in financial advice. A fully qualified financial & mortgage advisor who practiced for 12 years before moving into leading & developing both advisors and businesses.


Jason works for a FTSE100 wealth management company and deals with all aspects of delivery to financial advice firms including, advisor development, business strategy, marketing and quality servicing of their clients.


He has experience in working in a school environment initially as a Young Enterprise Advisor working with 6th form students, helping them set up & run a business and more recently delivering financial education.


Jason has no business interests that could influence his decisions regarding the school.


Warrick Barton



Warrick has been the Headteacher at Pensford since 2016.  He has worked in Education for over 25 years in schools in London and in the Bristol area.  This has included senior leadership roles in 3 other schools at Deputy Head and Headteacher level.

 Sam Miller


Teaching and Support Staff Governor

Sam has been teaching for ten years and has taught in Cornwall and South Bristol covering every year of Key Stage 2. He joined Pensford School in 2016 as KS2 leader and became the staff governor  during that academic year. He was appointed Acting Headteacher from January 2020 until January 2021. Sam has no personal connections with any governors or school staff and no business interests that could influence any decisions made by the GB.

 Jo Barnes


Parent Governor

Jo is a Disability Advice Team Manager at the University of the West of England. Her role is primarily to lead a team in providing advice, support and information to disabled students, and advising academic staff on inclusive and accessible curricula, pedagogy and assessment. Jo has a qualification in Adult Dyslexia Diagnosis and Support, and has previously worked as a teacher of English as a foreign language to children and adults overseas. She has also worked in further education, teaching young people with learning disabilities.

Dan Pitt


Dan is an Assistant Headteacher at Orchard School Bristol.  His role as a school leader is both to support day to day operations and take a strategic lead for staff continuous professional learning and development, Initial teacher education, student careers and post-16 provision and is part of the teaching and learning strategic team. Dan has a background in sports and leisure management before moving into education, where he became a PE teacher. Dan has worked in schools in both London and Bristol and has a passion for supporting local communities.

Jess Flack


Jess is currently studying for a MSc in Social Work at the University of Bristol and is on track to qualify in 2021. Prior to this, from 2016-2019, Jess owned the local Miners’ Coffee Shop in Pensford which was a wonderful way to be a part of the local community. The coffee shop raised money for various local projects including for the building of the current Pensford Primary School Library. Additionally, Jess has a degree in Psychology and many years experience of working with children with learning disabilities.

 Julie Parker 03/06/2022

LA Governor  

Julie is a retired hospital consultant who lives in Publow, and became a community governor 5 years ago, having made links via Forest Schooling.  She is currently the link governor for safe-guarding, and is part of the subcommittee that supervises the curriculum, welfare and standards of education.

The school’s ethos of putting happiness first is important to her.

Jose Tarnowski


Clerk to governors 


After working for 10 years as a Personal Assistant to a senior executive in the construction materials industry, Jose started a career in the NHS in 1990. She has held various administrative and management positions in local NHS organisations.  She currently works part time as a project manager at a large multi-site general Practice in North Somerset.  She has extensive experience of servicing meetings both in public sector and private enterprise settings.
